RE/MAX Shoreline ushers in December with First Friday Art Opening for "Two Sisters!"
Portland, ME - RE/MAX Shoreline introduces a new exhibit in their cafe gallery at The Common at 88 Middle Street this evening with an opening event from 5 to 7 that is open to the public.
Derrick Buckspan, Broker Owner of RE/MAX Shoreline, stated, "The holidays are all about family, so we are very pleased to bring "Two Sisters" to the City of Portland for the month of December. Rena Rockwell and Colleen Bedard have provided us with a beautiful array of their works that will grace our gallery area through the holiday season."
Both artists will be present for this evening's opening night:
Rena Rockwell | Watercolor
Rena Rockwell is an artist, writer, and Reiki Master, living and working in historic Hillsboro Center, on Loon Pond, New Hampshire. She is creatively inspired by nature and the changing seasons. When painting out of doors, it enables her to paint the changing light as the painting evolves. Light is the most important element in her paintings, sometimes more important than the subject. She paints often in Maine and New Hampshire or wherever her travels take her, whether by boat or by car.
Rena has studied fine art with Raymond Descoteaux, illustration with Lisa Cyr, and impressionism with JM Rogers, and Peter Etril-Snyder. Rena uses the finest paints and acid free papers to ensure the longevity of her work over time. She is represented by The Village Gallery in York, Maine, and Camille B. Gibson Gallery, in Washington, NH.
Colleen Bedard | Cold Wax + Oil Paint
Colleen Bedard is an artist and Realtor®, working at RE/MAX Shoreline. She has worked in many mediums including acrylics, printmaking, encaustics, glass bead making and block printing. Colleen’s current work is in cold wax. Combining cold wax with oil paint allows the artist to layer paints in a way that is different from traditional oil paining. All works here are on birch boards and ready for hanging in your home.
Colleen has studied at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Deer Isle, ME; Penland Schools of Crafts, Penland, NC; Maine College of Art, Portland; and—most recently— at Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Ballycastle, County Mayo, Ireland. She has an art studio at Mayo Street Arts, Portland.
